GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WORK SESSION MINUTES
JANUARY 5, 2016

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building

Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.

The Board discussed each item on the agenda for the Regular Meeting and made no changes or additions.

County Administrator John King announced that we have four county employees who are retiring. The employees are Mr. Robert “Buddy” Hunter with the Public Works Department, Mr. Jeff O’Neal with the Public Works Department, Ms. Patsy Sutton with the Tax Commissioner Office, and Ms. Gwendolyn McCarver with the Tax Commissioner Office. Tax Commissioner Scott Clements presented Ms. Sutton and Ms. McCarver with a gift from the county last week on their last day of employment. Administrator King presented Mr. Hunter and Mr. O’Neal with a gift from the county and thanked them for their long years of service to Gordon County.

County Administrator King discussed the proposed strategic planning meeting/retreat that is currently being planned for the Board. Administrator King commented that County Clerk Berry had been working on the proposed venue for the meeting and he asked the County Clerk to fill in the Board on information she had gathered. County Clerk Berry informed the Board that April 22-23, the date originally planned, was not available at Brasstown Resort. Other venues were Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville and the Brown Center in Cartersville, only the Brown Center was available for the April 22-23 date. However, Brasstown, Barnsley and Brown were all available for April 2, 2016. There was a consensus of the Board to reserve Brasstown for April 2 if still available, and second choice was Brown for April 2.

County Administrator King reminded the Board about the Chamber Annual Meeting and Banquet planned for January 21.

Commissioner Steward made a motion to close the Work Session. Commissioner Sexton seconded the motion and all voted aye. There being no further business the Work Session adjourned at 5:46 p.m.
