The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 5:15 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.
Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
The Board discussed each item on the agenda and made no changes. One item was added to the Agenda at the request of the Sheriff. The Sheriff Department requested to add to the agenda a declaration of surplus property for a 2002 Cadillac Deville.
Chairman Hood announced that the Board of Commissioners wishes to honor Grady Jolly, who is retiring from the Sheriff’s Department, with a token of appreciation for his years of service. The Board Members and Sheriff Mitch Ralston joined in presenting Mr. Jolly with a gold watch commemorating his retirement from Gordon County.
County Attorney Smith advised the Board that she had received a request from the Gordon County Library Board to use some space at the mental health building to store books from February 1 to August 1, 2014, during the construction of the addition to the library building. There was a consensus of the Board to allow the Library to use specified space at the mental health building for that period of time.
County Attorney Smith advised the Board that she had received a request from the Gordon Hospital to use the grassy space adjacent to E-911’s parking lot as additional parking for the hospital during their construction project. Following discussion by the Board members, County Attorney Smith was advised to contact the hospital and arranged for her and E-911 Director, Debbie Vance, to meet with someone from the hospital to get more information for the Board’s consideration in making a decision on this request.
Commissioner Steward made a motion to adjourn the Work Session, Commissioner Cunningham seconded the motion and all voted aye. There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
