GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REGULAR SESSION MINUTES
JANUARY 8, 2019


The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held their Regular Meeting on January 8, 2019 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration building.

Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.

ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN AND VICE CHAIRMAN

Administrator Ledbetter called for a motion to open nominations for Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Board of Commissioners.

Commissioner Steward made a motion to open the floor for nominations for Chairman. Commissioner Owens seconded the motion and all voted aye. Motion passed.

Administrator Ledbetter asked for any nominations for Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to nominate Becky Hood as Chairman. Commissioner Owens seconded the motion. Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to close the nominations. Commissioner Sexton seconded the motion and all voted aye.

Administrator Ledbetter called for the vote on the motion to elect Becky Hood as Chairman. Commissioners Steward, Owens, Sexton, and Cunningham voted aye. Motion passed. Administrator Ledbetter advised that this would be Becky Hood’s fourth four-year term as a commissioner and her third two-year term as Chairman of the Board.

Administrator Ledbetter asked for any nominations for Vice Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to nominate Chad Steward as Vice Chairman. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion. Commissioner Owens made a motion to close the nominations. Commissioner Sexton seconded the motion and all voted aye.

Administrator Ledbetter called for the vote on the motion to elect Chad Steward as Vice Chairman. Commissioners Owens, Sexton, Hood and Cunningham voted aye. Motion passed.
Administrator Ledbetter advised that this would be Chad Stewards third four-year term as a commissioner and his third two-year term as Vice Chairman.

EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION

Employees with Anniversary Hire Dates in January

Commissioner Owens read the list of employees with anniversary hire dates in January. Commissioner Cunningham drew the name of Nicholas Cochran as Employee of the Month for January, 2019.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Chairman Hood asked if there are any additions, omissions, or deletions to the Minutes for the Work Session December 18, 2018 and the Regular Meeting December 18, 2018. Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to approve the Minutes. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and Commissioners Cunningham, Steward, Owens and Sexton voted aye. Motion passed.

ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT

Administrator Ledbetter read the Administrator’s Report into the record in the Work Session held earlier.

COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT

Commissioner Owens reported that he attended the Gordon County Animal Control Department’s Adoption Event. Commissioner Steward reported that he and Chairman Hood attended the Swearing-In ceremony for elected officials and were both sworn in.

CONSIDERATION OF UNFINISHED BUSINESS

None

CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS

BUDGET AMENDMENT FOR $16,184.00 FOR THE ELECTIONS & VOTER REGISTRATION FOR SPECIAL ELECTIONS

Administrator Ledbetter advised that this is a budget amendment for the Elections and Voter Registration for special elections that are being held for State Representative due to the passing of John Meadows, and for Fairmount City Council member due to the passing of Linda Johnson. The budget amendment is for $16,184.00.

Commissioner Owens made a motion to approve the budget amendment for the Elections & Voter Registration for special elections. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and Commissioners Steward, Sexton, Owens and Cunningham voted aye. Motion passed.

ADJOURNMENT

Commissioner Steward made a motion to adjourn the Regular Meeting. Commissioner Cunningham seconded the motion and all voted aye.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
