WORK SESSION MINUTES
JANUARY 9, 2018
Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 5:45 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.

Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
County Administrator Ledbetter discussed with the Board each item on the Agenda for the Regular Meeting and no changes or additions were made to the Agenda.
Mr. Joseph Evans, member of the Harris Arts Center Board, came before the Board of Commissioners to speak about an upcoming project that may need to be brought before the Board in the future. Mr. Evans advised that he is on the organizing committee for the 12th annual String Band Festival. This event is coming up the last weekend in April this year, celebrating this musical heritage in Northwest Georgia. The committee is planning to go to the State and ask them to consider naming the String Band Festival here in Calhoun, Georgia as the official State String Band Festival. The Board of Commissioners would be a stakeholder in this request to have the General Assembly recognize our festival as the official State String Band Festival. The City of Calhoun and Representative John Meadows have also been contacted. They are willing to help in any way that they can.
Mr. Ed Weldon, with the Harris Arts Center, also spoke to the Board. Mr. Weldon spoke concerning The Clean 13 Celebration event to be held March 8, 2018 in Atlanta. Mr. Weldon asked for the Board’s support for clean water by giving his group names of interested people or sponsors who would be friends of clean water.
Commissioner Sexton made a motion to adjourn the Work Session. Commissioner Cunningham seconded the motion and all voted aye.
There being no further business, the Work Session adjourned at 5:56 p.m.
