1/10/2017 BOC Work Session Minutes
GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WORK SESSION MINUTES
JANUARY 10, 2017
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building
County Attorney Ledbetter called the meeting to order.
The Board discussed each item on the agenda for the Regular Meeting and made no changes or additions.
County Administrator King advised that there is water coming through the retaining wall at the back of where the old jail was. When this problem came up it was determined that Gordon County built the wall, we use it and we continue to use it and plan to do so in the future. Up until recently the City and the County believed it was County property. When it was looked into we weren’t able to determine why, but the City owns it. The wall may not be an immediate danger today, it doesn’t require an emergency action, but it does need to be remedied. County Attorney Ledbetter advised that the County has money left in the SPLOST that was there for the parking deck, the retaining wall part of parking and is part of the judicial complex and is attached to the annex. Administrator King added that there is approximately $400,000 remaining in that SPLOST account. Attorney Ledbetter recommended that the County get a quitclaim deed, then a survey and specs drawn and put it out for bid and then the County would own the property and have a new wall. There was a consensus of the Board to move forward with this project.
Commissioner Gazaway made a motion to adjourn the Work Session. Commissioner Cunningham seconded the motion and all voted aye.
There being no further business, the Work Session adjourned at 5:41 p.m.
