GORDON COUNTY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
PUBLIC HEARING
January 13, 2014


The Gordon County Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on Monday, anuary 13, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Gordon County Administration Building for the purpose of hearing variance and zoning change requests.

Chairman Rains called the meeting to order and advised all present of the sign-up sheets available for those who wish to address the Planning Commission on any of the zoning or variance change applications.

ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN AND VICE-CHAIRMAN

Chairman Rains opened the floor for nominations for the 2014 Chairman and Vice-Chairman for the Planning Commission. Randy Rule made the motion to leave Brad Rains as the Chairman and Ron Free as the Vice-Chairman; Butch Layson seconded the motion. All voted aye. Brad Rains will remain 2014 Chairman and Ron Free will remain the Vice-Chairman of the Gordon County Planning Commission.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Randy Rule to approve the minutes of the previous meeting of November 11, 2013. Jerry Lovelace seconded the motion. All voted aye. The minutes were approved as written.

VARIANCE APPLICATION #V13-13, NATALIE M. INGRAM

Chairman Rains read variance application #V13-13, Natalie M. Ingram, requesting a variance on a 5 acre tract located at 616 Woody Road, Adairsville, GA to reduce required county road frontage. Ms. Ingram represented the request explaining that she had purchased the property with a permanent easement and that the property had been subdivided in 2008. She added she planned to build in the future but knew she would have to acquire a variance before any construction could begin. All adjoining property owners had been notified.

The Planning Staff for Gordon County recommended that the variance request identified as Application #V13-13 be approved with the condition that evidence of a permanent easement for access to the property from Woody Road is submitted to the Gordon County Planning and Development Department.

Ron Free made the motion to approve the variance application identified as #V13-13 as requested with the condition that evidence of a permanent easement for access to the property from Woody Road is submitted to the Gordon County Planning and Development Department. Jerry Lovelace seconded the motion. All voted aye. The variance was granted. The thirty- (30) day appeal period was explained.

ADDITIONAL BUSINESS

Ron Free expressed that he thought the Planning Commission members should meet with Ursula Desrosier, Zoning Administrator for Gordon County, and discuss thoughts and concerns about the ULDC. Randy Rule added that he would like for the Planning Commission to receive a pay increase in the 2015 budget. There being no additional business, Ron Free made the motion to adjourn. Jerry Lovelace seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
