Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.

County Administrator Ledbetter explained the rezoning applications and the agenda items under the New Business on the Agenda for the Regular Meeting.

Mr. Matt Hibberts with Momon Construction spoke to the Board to explain the item on the Agenda for the Statement of Gross Maximum Price. Momon Construction went under contract with Gordon County around the first part of September, 2020 for the judicial complex and at that time we all know that the economy was in a little bit of turmoil, we just didn’t know about inflation. So Momon went back out, in this price it does include the latest plans we have to date with the exclusion of the $174,000 for a more recent addition of that second floor courtroom. Originally that courtroom was just to go in and replace some ceiling tile and that was about all. As a part of that $174,000, when you walk in from Piedmont Street, we are going to increase the width of that hall so not only will you get two more offices, but the vestibule will be more inviting. This number does include all the inflationary costs we know and 30 days beyond, so that it does give us time to write contracts if the Board approves this number.

Administrator Ledbetter advised that moneywise it is over the SPLOST budget amount; we’ve known that we were over that. The prediction a couple of years ago was that the County would need about a million and a half dollars to complete this. Now with inflation, it’s looking at putting us between $3 million and $3,100,000. Because of the savings on other projects and interest earned, and because we have done well in the last two years, despite covid, we do not anticipate borrowing any money and we can pay for this out of General Fund reserves.

Commissioner Potts made a motion to close the Work Session and go into the Regular Meeting. Commissioner Cunningham seconded the motion and all voted aye.

There being no further business, the Work Session adjourned at 5:59 p.m.
