GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 19, 2016
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.
Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Hood asked if there are any additions, omissions, or deletions to the Minutes for the Work Session January 5, 2015, and the Regular Meeting January 5, 2015. Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Sexton seconded the motion and Commissioners Cunningham, Sexton, Gazaway and Steward voted aye. Motion approved.
ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT
County Administrator King read the report into the record.
COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT
Commissioner Gazaway reported that he attended the Existing Industries Committee and the Resaca Battlefield meeting. Commissioner Sexton reported that he attended the Public Works Committee meeting, and the Republican Party meeting, also the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Redbud fire station. Commissioner Steward attended the Finance Committee meeting and the ribbon cutting for the new fire station. Commissioner Hood advised that she spoke at the Rotary Club meeting and attended the ribbon cutting for the fire station.

CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS
BUDGET AMENDMENT FOR A 1% SALARY INCREASE IN ELECTED OFFICIALS SALARIES PER GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF PLANNING AND BUDGET EFFECTIVE 1/1/2016
Administrator King advised that this is a budget amendment to increase the salary of elected officials per the Governor’s office of Planning and Budget effective January 1, 2016. The budget amendment is for the second half of the 2016 fiscal year budget in the amount of $3,103.49
Commissioner Steward made a motion to approve the budget amendment. Commissioner Gazaway seconded the motion and Commissioners Cunningham, Steward, Sexton, and Gazaway voted aye. Motion passed.
BUDGET AMENDMENT TO RECORD REVENUE FROM GEORGE CHAMBERS FOR THEIR CDBG PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT OF $21,979.00
Administrator King advised that this is a budget amendment to accept a check from the George Chambers Resource Center in the amount of $21,979.00 for their CDBG renovation project to add the canopy that was an alternate option on the contract. The funds will flow from the Georgia Chambers Resource Center to Gordon County and then to Momon Construction Company.
Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to approve the budget amendment. Commissioner Sexton seconded the motion and Commissioners Cunningham, Sexton, Steward, and Gazaway voted aye. Motion passed.
ESTABLISH QUALIFYING FEES FOR CANDIDATES SEEKING OFFICE DURING THE 2016 ELECTION
County Attorney Ledbetter advised that this is for Board approval to establish the qualifying fees for the upcoming 2016 elections. The Board of Elections has submitted the qualifying fees pursuant to O.C.G.A. 21-2-131, as presented on the attached list.
Commissioner Steward made a motion to approve the qualifying fees for the 2016 elections. Commissioner Gazaway seconded the motion and Commissioners Steward, Gazaway, Sexton, and Cunningham voted aye. Motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Sexton made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Gazaway seconded the motion and all voted aye. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
