Mohawk Presents Calhoun’s Dancing with the Stars for the third year with all the proceeds split between the Calhoun GEM Theatre and United Way of Gordon County. The event is set Friday and Saturday night March 14-15 at 7:30 PM at the beautiful Calhoun GEM Theatre. Tickets for Friday night are $25.00 and Saturday night $50.00 for the live performance in the GEM and $25.00 for the live video screening at Velo Vineyard. General admission tickets go on sell Thursday, January 3 at the GEM Box Office from 10:00-1:00 and 3:00-6:00 (No on-line or phone orders will be taken on Jan. 3-4). After that tickets will be available on line at calhoungem.org.
Sponsorship opportunities are available with tickets also include the pre-event reception with the dancers on Saturday night beginning at 6:00 , program ad, and other promotional options. Sponsorships range in price from at $500.00-$3500.00 and will close on December 19. Program ads starting at $50.00-$200.00 are also available.
The dancers have an opportunity to win one or both of the Mirror Balls the Judges Award and the People’s Choice Award. Judges will actually score the dancers on Saturday night just like is seen on television. The People’s Choice Award is determined by who raises the most money. Sponsorships, ads, and votes at $1.00 per vote will be calculated and the couple that raises the most money wins. At each performance the top hats will be passed in the audience after each couple dances for the audience to vote. These funds in addition to those raised by the dancers are calculated on Saturday night to name the People’s Choice Winner. The first year of DWTS a record amount was contributed $106,000.00 making DWTS the largest single fund raiser ever in Gordon County. Last year the record was broken when the eight couples raised $116,000.00. Becky Hood, Commission Chairperson and Courtney Taylor, Director of Gordon EMS will be representing Gordon County Government and Gordon Hospital.
