Regular Meeting
Chairman Padgett called the meeting to order at approximately 5:14 p.m.; welcoming all in attendance. Minutes from joint meeting with City HPC on February 3, 2020 were presented for review and approval. David Mitchell made motion to approve minutes; seconded by Jim Weaver. All voted aye.
Commission Reports
Betty Ann Surdykowski made note of 170th Anniversary of Gordon County being named. Gordon County was divided between Cass and Murray counties.
Chairman Padgett informed HPC of Gordon Gazette’s online Heritage Edition.
Jeff Henderson stated February’s historical society meeting was really good. People had brought in artifacts to share, some artifacts from Calhoun that had been left by persons in 1864.
Jeff Henderson made HPC members aware of changes at the library, including loosing local books/local heritage books. He recommends HPC members to contact local library board members and Friends of the Library members to voice concerns over the loss of local history/heritage books. Chairman Padgett suggested HPC submit a letter to local library board regarding these books and encourage them to keep the books available in the library.
Unfinished Business
Chairman Padgett stated parks are heavily flooded due to all the rain.
Sarah Ostuw and Chairman Padgett are working together to compile paperwork for GDOT green historical site signs.
HPC members agreed the joint City/County HPC meeting in February was very beneficial.
New Business
Request by Kevin King to permit local Boy Scout Troop #46 to camp overnight at Resaca Battlefield Park has been rescinded until later in the year.
National Battlefield Trust “Park Day” will be held on Saturday April 4, 2020 @ Resaca Confederate Cemetery. Everyone invited to attend.

Next scheduled HPC meeting is Monday, April 6th @ 5:15 p.m.. Betty Ann Surdykowski made motion to adjourn; seconded by David Mitchell. All voted aye. Meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:31 p.m.
