Regular Meeting
Chairman Padgett called the meeting to order at approximately 5:24 p.m.; welcoming all in attendance. Minutes from February 3, 2014 meeting were presented for review and approval. Jeff Henderson made motion to approve minutes; seconded by Jane Powers Weldon. All voted aye.
Unfinished Business & Reports
Chairman Padgett informed HPC members of the completion of Resaca Battlefield Park. He spoke with DNR representative earlier this date about an upcoming national tour of the park on March 16 – 18, 2014. Tour will consist of members from the Civil War Trust and Georgia Battlefields. Tour guides will be Ed Bearrs, Chief Historian for National Park Service, and Jim Oden. Tour is dependent upon approval by Gordon County Board of Commissioners. Georgia DOT has also placed a barricade to entrance of park.
Jeff Henderson stated the Brown Conference room at the Gordon County Historical Society is making progress. Jane Powers Weldon stated dry wall is in place, wiring for IT system is installed. Jeff Henderson stated next goal would be for bids to repair back porch of Historical Society building.
No new updates from Jane Powers Weldon for Calhoun HCP.
HPC members briefly discussed National Register. Jane Powers Weldon made motion to HPC that if approached by individuals in regards to properties being placed on National Register, the HPC would refer individuals to resource and/or contacts available for National Register; seconded by Jeff Henderson. All voted aye.
HPC briefly discussed upcoming training opportunities available.
Betty Ann Surdykowski gave HPC a brief update as to discussion that was held on February 19th, 2014 in regards to upcoming 150th Commemoration. Chamber of Commerce is obtaining traffic count for D.O.T. in regards to positioning billboards to advertise 150th Commemoration. GEM Theater may possibly have showings of Gone with the Wind during the month of May. Suzanne Roland is working on banners that will be placed throughout downtown Calhoun. Sarah, with Chamber of Commerce, will be working with Chairman Padgett for newspaper articles, as well as pamphlet publication with history of the battle and site information. Chamber has spoken with Debra Guinter in regards to using one of her billboards, located alongside I-75 at exit 312.
Jane Powers Weldon stated banners that will hang from the light poles in Calhoun will cost $75 each. She stated they discussed obtaining sponsors for the banners and giving banners to the sponsors once they are taken down.
HPC briefly discussed City of Resaca getting involved with promoting the upcoming 150th Commemoration.
New Business
Chairman Padgett and the HPC welcomes new county administrator, John King III.

Chairman Padgett informed HPC of next meeting, April 7th @ 5:30 p.m.. Jane Powers Weldon made motion to adjourn; seconded by Jeff Henderson. All voted aye. Meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:43 p.m..
