WORK SESSION MINUTES
MARCH 29, 2016


The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building

Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.

The Board discussed each item on the agenda for the Regular Meeting and made no changes. County Attorney Ledbetter explained the rezoning that was on the agenda for Board consideration at the Regular Meeting.

Commissioner Cunningham read a Proclamation for April as Donate Life Month as proclaimed by the Gordon County Board of Commissioners.

Mr. Joe Dan Thompson and Ms. Ashley Abercrombie, with the Association of County Commissioners, spoke to the Board concerning the County’s liability insurance that is carried through ACCG. The history of the formation of the insurance section of ACCG was related to the Board and explained how a majority number of counties in Georgia have their liability insurance through the cooperative managed by ACCG, which is non-profit and returns a good portion of the premiums to counties each year.

Code Enforcement Officer, Jim Bradford, came before the Board and gave an update for his department since it has been moved under the Board of Commissioners a few months ago. Officer Bradford covered the many variety of calls and complaints that he has handled since taking over this department; and the difficulty of handling certain complaints due to needed ordinance changes.

County Attorney Ledbetter spoke to the Board about the proposed amendment to the Historic Preservation Ordinance regarding the language about number of additional years a member can serve on the Historic Preservation Commission from “no more than two”, changing to, “additional terms at the discretion of the Board of Commissioners”.

Commissioner Sexton made a motion to close the Work Session. Commissioner Gazaway seconded the motion and all voted aye.

There being no further business the Work Session adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
