Regular Meeting
Chairman Padgett called the meeting to order at approximately 5:28 p.m.; welcoming all in attendance. Minutes from March 2, 2015 meeting were presented for review and approval. Jeff Henderson made motion to approve minutes; seconded by Betty Ann Surdykowski. All voted aye.
Commissioner Reports
Chairman Padgett met with Gordon County Parks & Recreation Director, Don Holley, in regards to hiring temporary staff for Resaca Battlefield Park. Employee would work 3 days a week or 2 days a week to include various holidays.
State of Georgia subcontractor workers have been onsite working on entrance to park, signage @ roadway, flag pole and interior markings on the trail system. Gordon County has a lawn maintenance contract with Johnson’s Lawncare for maintenance of roadside park, pocket parks inside and restroom facility. Chairman Padgett along with David Mitchell attended a cemetery class on March 10, 2015. The class covered maintenance, upkeep and historic backgrounds on cemeteries in Dalton, Georgia. Jeff Henderson gave brief overview on Park Day, which was held on March 28, 2015. Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp Stand Watie participated in the cleanup of park, along with a BBQ lunch. Cemetery area to Highway 41 and in front of Memorial at Highway 41 was cleaned, mowed, weeded, garbage and limbs picked up. Jeff Henderson stated there is no longer power at Confederate Cemetery, due to faulty power pole. Chairman Padgett stated a D-2 chemical was used to clean some of the monuments in the cemetery; cleaner worked great. Jeff Henderson has been working on a project researching churches that were damaged or destroyed during the civil war.
New Business
Chairman Padgett stated a cemetery class will be held on May 12, 2015 in Cave Springs, Georgia. Information was emailed to HPC members.

Next scheduled meeting is Monday, May 4, 2015. Jeff Henderson made motion to adjourn; seconded by Betty Ann Surdykowksi. Meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:42 p.m.
