GORDON COUNTY
PLANNING and ZONING COMMISSION
PUBLIC HEARING on APRIL 10, 2017


The Gordon County Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Gordon County Administration Building for the purpose of hearing variance and zoning change requests.

Members present were: Butch Layson, Jerry Lovelace, and Eddie Smith

Butch Layson called the meeting to order and advised all present of the sign-up sheets available for those who wish to address the Planning Commission on any of the zoning or variance change applications.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Jerry Lovelace to approve the minutes of the previous meeting of March 13, 2017. Eddie Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The minutes were approved as written.

VARIANCE APPLICATION #V17-03, NIRAV PATEL (APPL: ZAHID RASHID) (Tabled from March 13, 2017)

Vice-Chairman Layson read variance application #V17-03, Nirav Patel (appl: Zahid Rashid) for a 2 acre tract located at 110 Shope Lake Road, Calhoun. Mr. Rashid had spoke with Ursula Richardson, Zoning Administrator for Gordon County, and requested to table until the May 2017 meeting. Eddie Smith made the motion to table until the May 8, 2017 meeting. Jerry Lovelace seconded the motion. All voted aye. The variance application #V17-03 was tabled until the May 8, 2017 meeting.

REZONING APPLICATION #Z17-04, D & D INVESTMENTS, LLC  JEFF DODD

Vice-Chairman Layson read rezoning application #Z17-04, D & D Investments, LLC, requesting to rezone a 6.27 acre tract located on Morrow Road, Calhoun from A-1 to R-5. Brannon Fain represented the request explaining that the plan is to develop an apartment complex. They would be able to connect to the city sewer and the plan is for 5 apartment buildings. All adjoining property owners had been notified.

Ursula Richardson, Zoning Administrator for Gordon County, recommended that the rezoning request identified as Application #Z17-04 be approved.

Jerry Lovelace made the motion to approve the rezoning application identified as #Z17-04 from A-1 to R-5. Eddie Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The recommendation for approval was sent to the Board of Commissioners.

REZONING APPLICATION #Z17-05, TONEY THOMASON (APPL: BILLY WEAVER)

Vice-Chairman Layson read rezoning application #Z17-05, Toney Thomason (appl: Billy Weaver) for a 2.08 acre tract located at 2451 Cash Road, Calhoun requesting to rezone from A-1 to RA-1. No one was present to represent the application. Jerry Lovelace made the motion to table until the May 8, 2017 meeting. Eddie Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The rezoning application #Z17-05 was tabled until the May 8, 2017 meeting.

REZONING APPLICATION #Z17-06, RALPH HARRIS (APPL: DONNY RAY)

Vice-Chairman Layson read rezoning application #Z17-06, Ralph Harris (appl: Donny Ray), requesting to rezone a 2.42 acre tract located at 2544 Pine Chapel Road, Resaca from R-1 to R-6. Donny Ray represented the request explaining that the property had been purchased in 2006 with an existing mobile home and now they had purchased a new mobile home to replace the current mobile home and discovered that it needed to be rezoned to bring into compliance. All adjoining property owners had been notified.

Ursula Richardson, Zoning Administrator for Gordon County, recommended that the rezoning request identified as Application #Z17-06 be approved.

Eddie Smith made the motion to approve the rezoning application identified as #Z17-06 from R-1 to R-6. Jerry Lovelace seconded the motion. All voted aye. The recommendation for approval was sent to the Board of Commissioners.

ADDITIONAL BUSINESS

There being no additional business, Jerry Lovelace made the motion to adjourn. Eddie Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
