Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.

County Administrator Ledbetter explained to the Board the rezoning items and the New Business items on the agenda for tonight’s meeting.

Mr. Andy Macky, with Comcast, came before the Board to advise about the progress of the project for bringing broadband to outlying portions of Gordon County that has no access to internet services. Mr. Mache advised that they have partnered with the County in order to acquire additional funding. They have been at work doing the initial survey and design, and they are about two-thirds of the way through that process. Once the design is finished they will move forward with the permitting. Today they met with a team from Georgia Power, North Georgia EMC, City of Calhoun and Gordon County to talk about what might be involved from a permitting standpoint. That really is the driver of how quickly we will be able to move through this project, is what’s the permitting process and how long is it going to take. The biggest driver of that is the utility poles that will attach the new infrastructure.

Craig Sparks, Director for Parks and Recreation, came and presented to the Board the ten-year old girls basketball team who recently won the State Championship. Mr. Sparks advised the Board of the fantastic statistics of this team, their long winning streak and thanked their coaches for the great job they did with the team. The team came forward and had their pictures made with the Board Members and was congratulated on their accomplishments.

Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to close the Work Session. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and all voted aye.

There being no further business, the Work Session adjourned at 5:43 p.m.
