5/10/2010 Planning & Zoning Commission Minutes

The Gordon County Planning & Zoning Commission held a Public Hearing on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Gordon County Administration Building for the purpose of hearing variance and zoning change requests. Chairman Talley called the meeting to order and advised all present of the sign-up sheets available for those who wish to address the Planning Commission on any of the zoning or variance change applications.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Randy Rule to approve the minutes of the previous meeting of April 12, 2010. Brad Rains seconded the motion. All voted aye. The minutes were approved as written.

 

  • REZONING APPLICATIONS #Z10-01 IRENE CRAIG, #Z10-02 DUSTIN C.LONG, & #Z10-03 JERRY CRAIG
    Chairman Talley read rezoning applications #Z10-01 Irene Craig, #Z10-02 Dustin C. Long, and #Z10-03 Jerry Craig; requesting to rezone all 3 applications from A-1 to RA-1. This request is requested due to the subdivision of an 8.92 acre tract of land for the purpose of bringing into compliance all 3 tracts. The property is located at 2796 Taylortown Road, Ranger. Dustin C. Long represented all of the requests explaining that this is his grandmother, Irene Craig’s property and that she was subdividing the property to leave the existing home and 2.24 acres, and deeding him 3.34 acres which is Tract 1 and deeding the balance of the original property of 3.34 acres to his Uncle Jerry Craig, which is Tract 2. Mr. Long explained that he wanted to build a new home on his tract and the tract that was to be his uncles was to remain vacant for now and that his grandmother would still live in the existing home. All 3 tracts have the required county road frontage. All adjoining property owners had been notified. Paige Hatley, with MACTEC acting as the Planning Consultant for Gordon County recommended that the rezoning requests #Z10-01, #Z10-02, and #Z10-03 be approved. On rezoning application #Z10-01 for Irene Craig, Randy Rule made the motion to approve the rezoning request from A-1 to RA-1. Ron Free seconded the motion. All voted aye. The recommendation for approval was sent to the Board of Commissioners. On rezoning application #Z10-02 for Dustin C. Long, Randy Rule made the motion to approve the rezoning request from A-1 to RA-1. Brad Rains seconded the motion. All voted aye. The recommendation for approval was sent to the Board of Commissioners. On rezoning application #Z10-03 for Jerry Craig, Randy Rule made the motion to approve the rezoning request from A-1 to RA-1. Brad Rains seconded the motion. All voted aye. The recommendation for approval was sent to the Board of Commissioners.

 

  • REZONING APPLICATION #Z10-04, TED R. KING (OOTHCALOOGA, LLLP)
    Chairman Talley read rezoning application #Z10-04, Ted R. King with Oothcalooga, LLLP requesting to rezone 89.19 acres located on Spring Hill Road, Adairsville from I-2 to A-1. Mr. King represented the request explaining that he would like to rezone this property back to its original classification to permit it to be used for agricultural purposes. All adjoining property owners had been notified. Paige Hatley, with MACTEC acting as the Planning Consultant for Gordon County recommended that the rezoning request #Z10-04 be approved. Ron Free made the motion to approve the rezoning request #Z10-04 from I-2 to A-1. Ricky Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The recommendation for approval was sent to the Board of Commissioners.

ADDITIONAL BUSINESS
There being no additional business, Ricky Smith made the motion to adjourn. Brad Rains seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
