BOC Work Session Minutes for 5/15/2012
GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WORK SESSION MINUTES
MAY 15, 2012
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.
Chairman Bailey called the meeting to order.
The Board discussed each item on the agenda and made no changes. One item was added to the agenda later in the meeting.
County Attorney Hutchinson requested the Board to add an item to the Agenda for the Regular Meeting, explaining that the request is in regard to the item that the Board met in Executive Session, under potential or pending litigation, during the May 1st meeting in reference to a D.O.T. condemnation action. The attorney representing the Georgia D.O.T., who is acquiring right-of-way for the Gordon County bypass, had a pending condemnation on a parcel of land on that bypass. Gordon County had a tax lien on that parcel for some unpaid property taxes. The Gordon County Tax Commissioner is agreeable to the proposal by the D.O.T. to settle the condemnation which would require the County to execute two quitclaim deeds. This request comes to the Board from the Tax Commissioner with his recommendation that the Board authorize the Chair to sign the quitclaim deeds in settling that pending condemnation. There was a consensus of the Board to add this item to the Agenda.
Commissioner Long made a motion to adjourn the Work Session. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and all voted aye.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
