GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WORK SESSION MINUTES
MAY 16, 2017


The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.

Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.

Mr. John Meadows, with Northwest Georgia Benefits, the County’s insurance agency, came before the Board to give an update on the Employee Health Insurance for next fiscal year; he also presented the Board with the financial proposal for the same time period. Mr. Meadows presented the Board with a 10% increase on the fixed cost administrative fee.

Ms. Julianne Meadows and Mr. Brice Wood spoke to the Board regarding the update of the joint Comprehensive Plan for Gordon County and all municipalities. All required and optional elements to be accomplished in order to meet the June 30, 2018 due date were presented and explained.

County Attorney/Administrator spoke to the Board regarding a request from the Division Fire Chief/ Training Officer Nathan Saylors asking to be able to drive a county vehicle home. Due to Officer Saylors being on call and having to drive from his home back to the fire station to pick up a county vehicle during a response to an emergency, he is requesting to be allowed to drive a vehicle home for use only in driving to the location of the emergency or back to the fire station during his work shift. Fire Chief Ralston commented that there is a need for approval of this request also because he will be filling in for the EMA Director as needed. There was a consensus of the Board to approve his driving a county vehicle home.

The Board discussed each item on the agenda for the Regular Meeting and made no changes or additions.

Commissioner Sexton made a motion to go into Executive Session for Personnel. Commissioner Owens seconded the motion. Executive Session began at 5:58 p.m.

Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to close the Executive Session. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and all voted aye. Executive Session adjourned at 6:25 p.m.

Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to adjourn the Work Session. Commissioner Sexton seconded the motion and all voted aye.

There being no further business, the Work Session adjourned at 6:26 p.m.
