WORK SESSION MINUTES
MAY 17, 2016
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building
Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
The Board discussed each item on the agenda for the Regular Meeting and made no changes or additions.
Chairman Hood and the Board members congratulated Finance Director, Al Leonard, for his accomplishment of being presented the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the twelfth consecutive year. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
Mr. Jim Bradford, Code Compliance Officer for Gordon County, gave an update to the Board concerning his department and the large number of cases he is investigating. Several cases resulted in citations to appear in Magistrate Court. Officer Bradford relayed information on numerous cases that have resulted in property being cleared of unsightly junk and yards and shrubs being mowed and trimmed. He is receiving a good number of complaints concerning backyard chickens. The newly installed computer system that was purchased for his department has been well received and used to track his many numerous cases as they are entered into the system and updated as activity takes place.
County Administrator, John King, handed out the recommended fiscal year 2016/2017 budget to the Board Members. Members were asked to look over the budget and to contact Administrator King or Finance Director Leonard if they have any questions. The budget public hearing will be held during the next Board meeting in June.
Commissioner Sexton made a motion to close the Work Session. Commissioner Cunningham seconded the motion and all voted aye.
There being no further business the Work Session adjourned at 5:44 p.m.
