Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
County Administrator Ledbetter explained the rezonings and discussed with the Board each item on the agenda for the Regular Meeting. There were no changes or additions made to the Agenda.
Mr. Kenny Fuquea and Mr. Levi Higdon, both with Santek, came before the Board to give more information regarding a notification sent to the County about a price increase at the Redbone Ridges Landfill. The notification advised that effective June 1st, the current minimum charge of $7.00 will go to $21.00 and effective January 1, 2019 will go to $37.70 with a one-ton minimum, the pricing at the convenience compactor sites will not change from the current 12 cents per pound. Administrator Ledbetter explained that the contract with Santek gives them the right to establish the fees. Mr. Fuquea told the Board that they had posted the fee increase a few weeks ago at the landfill; the concession that Santek is willing to make, is that the January 1, 2019 increase will not be made, the fee will stay at $21.00 with a one-ton minimum. There was discussion of setting a per item fee for large items such as a couch; that issue will be left open for further discussion with Santek management.
Administrator Ledbetter advised the Board that CSX Railroad has made a decision to delay the sidetrack extension in Resaca.
Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to adjourn the Work Session. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and all voted aye.
There being no further business, the Work Session adjourned at 6:00 p.m. and the Board adjourned to the Regular Meeting.
