GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
JUNE 16, 2015
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.
Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Hood asked if there are any additions, omissions, or deletions to the Minutes for the Special Meeting May 22 – 23, 2015, the Work Session June 2, 2015, and the Regular Meeting June 2, 2015. Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioners Sexton seconded the motion and Commissioners Cunningham, Sexton, Steward, and Gazaway voted aye. Motion approved
ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT
County Administrator King read the report into the record (copy attached).
COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT
Commissioner Gazaway reported that he attended the Community Government Affairs meeting.
CONSIDERATION OF UNFINISHED BUSINESS
None
CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS
APPROVAL OF FY 2015/2016 ANNUAL BUDGET
Chairman Hood advised that this is for Board approval of the fiscal year 2015/2016 annual budget.
Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to approve the 2015/2016 annual budget presented. Commission Gazaway seconded the motion and Commissioners Steward, Cunningham, Gazaway, and Sexton voted aye. Motion passed.
DECLARATION OF SURPLUS PROPERTY FROM THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE FOR UNUSED RIFLES, GUN CASES, AND AMMUNITION AND APPROVAL OF EXCHANGE OF PROPERTY FOR THREE COLT AR15 RIFLES WITH ACCESSORIES
Chairman Hood advised that this is a request from the Sheriff’s Department to declare some unused rifles, gun cases, and ammunition surplus and to approve for exchange of property for three Colt AR15 rifles with accessories. Chief Deputy Robert Paris answered some questions from the Board concerning the property and the exchange for other rifles and accessories.
Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to approve the declaration of surplus property and the exchange. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and Commissioners Cunningham, Gazaway, Steward, and Sexton voted aye. Motion passed.
APPOINTMENTS TO THE GORDON COUNTY PUBLIC FACILITIES AUTHORITY
Chairman Hood advised that this is the appointment of Jeff Ruddell and Charles Hall to the Gordon County Public Facilities Authority. Chairman Hood also commented that as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners she is also on this Authority.
Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to approve the appointments to the Gordon County Public Facilities Authority. Commissioner Sexton seconded the motion and Commissioners Cunningham, Sexton, Steward, and Gazaway voted aye. Motion passed.
EXTEND THE 60-DAY MORATORIUM ON NEW AND EXPANDING POULTRY OPERATIONS
Chairman Hood announced that this is to approve extending the 60-day moratorium on new and expanding poultry operations through July 21st to allow the Board to go through the proper process of amending the ordinance.
Commissioner Sexton made a motion to approve extending the moratorium through July 21st. Commissioner Gazaway seconded the motion and Commissioners Sexton, Gazaway, and Steward voted aye. Commissioner Cunningham voted to oppose the motion. Motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Sexton made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Gazaway seconded the motion and all voted aye. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
