WORK SESSION MINUTES
JUNE 21, 2016
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building
Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
The Board discussed each item on the agenda for the Regular Meeting and made no changes or additions. County Attorney Ledbetter explained the two re-zoning applications and the item for the Agreement with the Public Defender. Administrator King explained the items for License Application for beer, the re-appointment to the Airport Authority, the bid award for the Plaza building and the property and liability insurance proposal.
Division Chief Nathan Saylors from the Fire Department came before the Board to request the Board’s approval for a fund raiser in conjunction with the National Fire Safety Council to raise money for giveaway items for kids visiting the fire departments and for fire safety presentations at schools for students. There was a consensus of the Board to approve the request for the Fire Department to raise these funds with the National Fire Safety Council.
County Attorney Ledbetter handed out copies of ordinance amendments that he is recommending the Board consider approving concerning backyard chickens, grass height, and indoor shooting ranges. Attorney Ledbetter advised that he would like the Board to read the amendments and make any changes or additions; and to plan to discuss those at the next Board meeting. After that, any changes will be incorporated and the announcement of a public hearing will be advertised. After the required public hearing the amendments can then be brought before the Board for consider of approval.
Commissioner Gazaway made a motion to close the Work Session. Commissioner Sexton seconded the motion and all voted aye.
There being no further business the Work Session adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
