Chairman Becky Hood called the meeting to order at 5:45 p.m.
Discussion of Regular Agenda Items
New Business:
County Administrator, Jim Ledbetter explained the items listed under New Business which included:
- Malt Beverage and Wine License Application for Allens Mart: Mr. Ledbetter announced that the application was for a new owner and stated the address as 4782 Redbud Road
- Malt Beverage and Wine License Application for Neel’s Market: Mr. Ledbetter announced that the application was for a new owner and stated the address as 602 Hwy 53 SW
- Contract approval for Schneider (QPublic) Geospatial Software: Mr. Ledbetter explained that this software is a part of the qPublic system that many already know and use. The system will allow for online permitting and plan preview. The project will begin with Code Enforcement and then will include the Building Inspection Office and then others.
- Declaration of surplus items from Emergency Management: Mr. Ledbetter stated that the items were old radio equipment and are no longer needed.
Board Consideration
Board Vacancies:
Re-appointment of Chrissy Bryant to the Library Board with a term ending June 2025:
After discussion from the Board of Commissioners, there was a consensus to add the re-appointment to the regular agenda as item E.
Administrator’s Report
County Administrator Jim Ledbetter presented his Administrator’s Report during the work session. Copy Attached.
Other Discussion:
Commissioner Potts asked about the referendum concerning the sale of alcohol on Sundays. Administrator Ledbetter stated that he has been looking into the subject and has spoken with Elections Supervisor Shea Hicks. Mr. Ledbetter stated that the resolution will be before the Board at the next meeting. Mr. Ledbetter stated that it may be two different referendums, one for alcohol by the drink and one for package sales.
Commissioner Potts stated that he and the Board have received an email concerning Homestead Exemption. Commissioner Potts stated that he would like to know more about the subject and Mr. Ledbetter state that he would have the Chief Tax Assessor Dana Burch to talk with him.
