Historic Preservation Commission Minutes
July 6, 2015

Regular Meeting
Chairman Padgett called the meeting to order at approximately 5:30 p.m., welcoming all in attendance. Minutes from June 1, 2015 meeting were presented for review and approval. David Mitchell made motion to approve; seconded by Jeff Henderson. All voted aye.
Commission Reports
Jeff Henderson made commission aware of booklet on display at Gordon County Historical Society. Booklet is dated July 4, 1865 (150 years old) and displays the names of Gordon County families who received assistance from the federal government in 1865.
Unfinished Business
Chairman Padgett stated Resaca Battlefield Park is very close to completion. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) states there is an issue with Department of Transportation (DOT) granting permission to have signed placed on side of roadway. Construction of sign is completed and awaiting on rock layer to place sign.
Chairman Padgett will be attending a meeting later this month with Georgia Division of Re-enactors Association to discuss easement violation on Chitwood Farm, easement is owned by Gordon County.
Gordon County approved in current budget for two temporary employees to man sites at Resaca Battlefield and Fort Wayne. Duties will include upkeep of both sites as well as light maintenance.
HPC briefly discussed stipulations of site usage at both sites.
New Business
Nominations were opened for elections for officers for next year. Jeff Henderson nominated Kenny Padgett to remain chairman; seconded by Alvin Long. All voted aye.
Jeff Henderson nominated Betty Ann Surdykowski to remain vice-chairman; seconded by David Mitchell. All voted aye.
Betty Ann Surdykowski stated the article in Blue & Grey magazine was good. Betty Ann Surdykowski made motion to cancel August meeting, with next meeting being in September; seconded by David Mitchell. All voted aye.

Meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:53 p.m.
