The Gordon County Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Gordon County Administration Building for the purpose of hearing variance and zoning change requests.
Chairman Talley called the meeting to order and advised all present of the sign-up sheets available for those who wish to address the Planning Commission on any of the zoning or variance change applications.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Ron Free to approve the minutes of the previous meeting of May 14, 2012. Ricky Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The minutes were approved as written.
VARIANCE APPLICATION #V12-01, MORRIS L. & MOLLY R. JENKINS
Chairman Talley read variance application #V12-01, Morris L. and Molly R. Jenkins requesting a variance for 14.50 acres located at 175 Hall Memorial Road, to sub-divide from larger tract and only have 143 feet of road frontage because of the existing paved driveway. Mary Alice Sullivan, a local real estate agent, represented the variance request explaining that the Jenkins family would like to be able to sell the entire original 32 acres, but were looking at other marketing ideas if they could only sell the existing home and 10 acres then subdivide off this tract of 14.5 acres to sell alone but because of the existing drive they were short by 7 feet of the county requirements for minimum road frontage. Adjoining property owners Eddie Smith, Dennis Young, and Denise West spoke with concerns of what the actual variance was about. All adjoining property owners had been notified.
Ursula Desrosier, Zoning Administrator for Gordon County, recommends that the variance request identified as Application #V12-01 be approved.
Brad Rains made the motion to approve variance request #V12-01 as requested. Ron Free seconded the motion. All voted aye. The variance was granted. The thirty- (30) day appeal period was explained.
ADDITIONAL BUSINESS
There being no additional business, Brad Rains made the motion to adjourn. Ricky Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting was adjourned at 6:19 p.m.
