Gordon County Animal Control Issues a RED ALERT Due To Overcrowding

Gordon County’s Animal Control facility is currently beyond capacity.  The facility is certified to have 41 animals and currently is housing approximately 90 animals.  Since the opening of the new facility, Gordon County has not euthanized animals due to a lack of space.  However, due to current capacity issues, the Gordon County Animal Control Department has limited ability to respond to calls concerning strays and the department can not take in any drop-offs.  While the department does work with area rescues to help with adoption, fostering, and housing of animals, these rescues are also full.

Gordon County is asking for the public’s assistance with adopting these animals.  Adoption fees at Gordon County Animal Control have been waived and each adoption will come with a free spay and neuter certificate (for adopted pets only).
