7/19/2016 BOC Work Session Minutes

JULY 19, 2016

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building

Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.

The Board discussed each item on the agenda for the Regular Meeting and made no changes or additions.

The presentation of a watch to retiring Lieutenant Doug Talley was made by Fire Chief Doug Ralston. Chief Ralston announced that Lieutenant Talley has 30-years of service with Gordon County and the Board of Commissioners would like to present him with a retirement gift. Board members congratulated and thanked Lieutenant Talley for his service to Gordon County.

Mr. Stan Griffin with Momon Construction spoke to the Board and gave an update on the progress being made to renovate the Gordon County Government Plaza building. Mr. Griffin advised that they officially got underway on July 8th; a pre-construction meeting was held on the 15th and included the owner, architect, general contractor, and sub-contractors. Discussion at that meeting was about start-up requirements, scheduling, and rfi requests, changes in the work, and construction processes. He gave a list of all items that have already been accomplished, and assured that the project is on schedule.

There was discussion of the re-scheduling of the October 4, 2016 Board of Commissioners meeting to October 11, 2016. Due to the week of Fall Break for the county schools coming October 3 through October 7, 2016, some Board members would be out of town and unable to attend the October 4th meeting. There was a consensus of the Board members to approve moving the October 4th meeting to October 11th.

Commissioner Sexton made a motion to close the Work Session. Commissioner Gazaway seconded the motion and all voted aye.

There being no further business the Work Session adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
