Regular Meeting

Chairman Padgett called the meeting to order at approximately 5:30 p.m., welcoming all in attendance. Minutes from July 7, 2014 meeting were presented for review and approval. Alvin Long made motion accept minutes; seconded by David Mitchell. All voted aye.

Chairman Padgett welcomed David Mitchell as the newest member of the Commission.

Commission Reports

Chairman Padgett informed HPC of the 28th Georgia dedicating a 5-ton monument at Fort Wayne. David Mitchell, Vic Bohannon, John Warren and Kenny Padgett placed another marker at an unknown grave at Fort Wayne.

Chairman Padgett will be meeting with County Administrator, John King, and Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 in reference to the Resaca Battlefield site.

Alvin Long spoke with County Administrator, John King, in reference to having solar powered emergency phones installed at the Resaca Battlefield site. Emergency phones would automatically dial 911 when the receiver was picked up. Chairman Long suggested there be
at least 3 emergency phones installed at the site due to the length of the trail system.

Unfinished Business

Commission members present were in agreement to postpone election of new officers until September scheduled meeting when all Commission members are present.

Chairman Padgett stated Betty Ann Surdykowski will bring Pioneer Family information to September HPC meeting.

Adjournment

Next scheduled HPC meeting is Tuesday, September 2, 2014 @ 530 p.m. at Gordon County Historical Society. Alvin Long made motion to adjourn meeting; seconded by David Mitchell. All voted aye. Meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:37 p.m.
