Board of Tax Assessors Minutes
Thursday, August 6, 2015
Meeting called to order at 8:57 am.
Members Present: Frank Sullivan-Board of Assessors, Lamar J. Ray-Board of Assessors, Jerry Barton- Chairman of Board of Assessors , Joe Wright – Duty Chief Appraiser , Dana Burch- Chief Appraiser, Brandy Sandford- Sales Analysis Appraiser/ Secretary
Chief Appraiser Dana Burch ask that the agenda be amended and Executive Session Added. Lamar J. Ray made the motion to accept the recommendation of Chief Appraiser, Frank Sullivan seconded and motions passed.
Minutes reviewed from July 16, 2015. Motion made for approval by Frank Sullivan seconded by Lamar J. Ray. Board Agreed/ Unanimous.
Executive Session
The Board of Assessors retired into Executive Session personnel issues. Discussion and updates on some personnel issues but no motion needed.
New Business
1) Schedule Changes presented by Dana Burch motioned for approval by Lamar J. Ray seconded by Frank Sullivan. Motion passed.
2) 2013, 2014, 2015 open Appeals presented by Dana Burch. Motioned for approval by Frank Sullivan seconded by Lamar J. Ray. Motion passed
3) Motor Vehicles Appeals from July 13, 2015 to August 3, 2015 presented by Dana Burch motioned for approval by Lamar J. Ray seconded by Frank Sullivan. Motion passed.
4) New procedures for Appeal Process presented by Dana Burch. Motioned for approval by Frank Sullivan seconded by Lamar J. Ray. Motion passed.
5) Personal Property 30 Day and 45 Day Notices presented by Dana Burch. Motioned for approval by Frank Sullivan seconded by Lamar J. Ray. Motion passed.
6) Homestead Exemption presented by Dana Burch. Motioned for approval by Lamar J. Ray seconded by Frank Sullivan. Motion passed.
General Discussion
Dana Burch presented to the Board of Assessors changes to the Steps in An Appeal Procedures, these changes were made to reflect the new territory appraisers and also, the appraisal staff chose not to continue to use the appeal checklist in the procedures. Jerry Barton presented date for next Board of Assessors meeting for August 20, 2015. Motion for approval by Lamar J. Ray seconded by Frank Sullivan.
Meeting Adjourned by Jerry Barton at 10:09 am seconded by Lamar J. Ray. Board agreed unanimous.
