REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
AUGUST 7, 2012
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Administration Building.
Chairman Bailey called the meeting to order.
WELCOME
Chairman Bailey welcomed everyone to the meeting.
EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION
Chairman Bailey read the list of employees with anniversary hire dates in August.
Commissioner Long drew the name of Patricia Bedford as employee of the month.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Bailey asked if there were any additions, omissions, or deletions to the Minutes for the Work Session July 17, 2012, the Regular Meeting July 17, 2012, and the Special Meeting July 24, 2012. Commissioner Long made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and all voted aye. Minutes approved.

CONSIDERATION OF OLD BUSINESS

CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS
- CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL OF THE LOST CERTIFICATE OF DISTRIBUTION
County Administrator Dowling advised that this is for Board approval of the Local Option Sales Tax Certificate of Distribution. This is a State requirement every ten years according to the Census. Following several meetings with the municipalities, and going through the State mandated procedure, the Board has approved the method of distribution strictly by population. This certificate must be completed by August 26th.Commissioner Long made a motion to approve the LOST Certificate of Distribution and authorize the Chairman to sign. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and Commissioners Long, Steward, and Bailey voted aye. Motion passed. - AMENDMENT TO THE MALT BEVERAGE, WINE AND LIQUOR ORDINANCE – first reading
County Attorney Smith advised that this is the first reading of an amendment to the Malt Beverage Wine and Liquor ordinance. The amendment is for the Event Permit Application section of the ordinance which called for any event permit application to be submitted at least 15 days prior to the event. Based upon staff recommendations, the request is for the Board to consider an amendment requiring the application to be submitted at least 30 days prior to the event. The amendment will be on the next agenda for a second reading and the Board’s consideration for approval.

Commissioner Long made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and all voted aye. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:10 a.m.
