GORDON COUNTY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES
August 12, 2013
The Gordon County Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Gordon County Administration Building for the purpose of hearing variance and zoning change requests.
Chairman Rains called the meeting to order and advised all present of the sign-up sheets available for those who wish to address the Planning Commission on any of the zoning or variance change applications.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Jerry Lovelace to approve the minutes of the previous meeting of July 8, 2013. Ron Free seconded the motion. All voted aye. The minutes were approved as written.
VARIANCE APPLICATION #V13-05 & #V13-06, MARK F. CARROLL
Chairman Rains read variance application #V13-05 and #V13-06, Mark F. Carroll, requesting a variance to reduce required county road frontage on both the applications on property located at 314 Ship Island Road, Plainville. Mr. Carroll represented the request explaining that he would like to subdivide 2-10.50 acre tracts off from his property for each of his daughters to build on and reduce the required 150 foot road frontage and use a 20 foot ingress/egress easement as access the new homes. All adjoining property owners had been notified.
Ursula Desrosier, Zoning Administrator for Gordon County, recommended that both the variance requests identified as Application #V13-05 and #V13-06 be approved as requested, with the condition that evidence of a permanent easement for access to the property from Ship Island Road is submitted to the Gordon County Planning and Development Department.
Randy Rule made the motion to approve both the variance applications identified as #V13-05 and #V13-06 as requested with the condition that evidence of a permanent easement for access to the property from Ship Island Road is submitted to the Gordon County Planning and Development Department. Butch Layson seconded the motion. All voted aye. Both variances were granted. The thirty- (30) day appeal period was explained.
VARIANCE APPLICATION #V13-07, DAVID AND CARON BROWN
Chairman Rains read variance application #V13-07 David and Caron Brown, requesting a variance to reduce required county road frontage on 10 acres located at 4802 I Sugar Valley Road, NW, Sugar Valley. Mr. Brown represented the request explaining that he would like to build on this property and reduce the required 150 foot road frontage and use a 20 foot ingress/egress easement as access the new home. All adjoining property owners had been notified.
Ursula Desrosier, Zoning Administrator for Gordon County, recommended that the variance request identified as Application #V13-07 be approved as requested, with the condition that evidence of a permanent easement for access to the property from Sugar Valley Road is submitted to the Gordon County Planning and Development Department.

There being no additional business, Randy Rule made the motion to adjourn. Ron Free seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting was adjourned at 6:11 p.m.
