PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MINUTES
AUGUST 14, 2017
The Gordon County Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Gordon County Administration Building for the purpose of hearing variance and zoning change requests.
Members present were:
Randy Rule, Butch Layson, Jerry Lovelace, Eddie Smith, and Nathan Serritt
Randy Rule called the meeting to order and advised all present of the sign-up sheets available for those who wish to address the Planning Commission on any of the zoning or variance change applications.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Jerry Lovelace to approve the minutes of the previous meeting of July 10, 2017. Butch Layson seconded the motion. All voted aye. The minutes were approved as written.
REZONING APPLICATION #Z17-12, KAREN ALLEN WILLOUGHBY, (EXECUTOR FOR THE ESTATE OF SAMUEL N. & LUCILLE ALLEN)
Chairman Rule read rezoning application #Z17-12, Karen Allen Willoughby, (executor for the estate of Samuel N. and Lucille Allen), requesting to rezone 4.757 acres located at 360 Gillespie Road, Fairmount from A-1 to R-6. Ms. Willoughby represented the request explaining that this property had belonged to her parents and to settle the estate with her 2 siblings, she wanted to divide it into 3 equal tracts and bring into compliance the two existing mobile homes already on the property and possibly in the future place another mobile home on the tract that would be left vacant. All adjoining property owners had been notified.
Ursula Richardson, Zoning Administrator for Gordon County, recommended that the rezoning request identified as Application #Z17-12 be approved.
Nathan Serritt made the motion to approve the rezoning application identified as #Z17-12 from A-1 to R-6. Butch Layson seconded the motion. All voted aye. The recommendation for approval was sent to the Board of Commissioners.
REZONING APPLICATION #Z17-13, JERAD DAVIS
Chairman Rule read rezoning application #Z17-13, Jerad Davis, requesting to rezone a 3.50 acre tract located at 239 Boone Ford Road, Calhoun from A-1 to RA-1. Jerad Davis represented the request explaining that he had purchased this property after it had been subdivided from a larger tract and now needs to rezone and bring into compliance in order to build a home for his family. All adjoining property owners had been notified.
Ursula Richardson, Zoning Administrator for Gordon County, recommended that the rezoning request identified as Application #Z17-13 be approved.
Jerry Lovelace made the motion to approve the rezoning application identified as #Z17-13 from A-1 to RA-1. Eddie Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The recommendation for approval was sent to the Board of Commissioners.
ADDITIONAL BUSINESS
There being no additional business, Jerry Lovelace made the motion to adjourn. Nathan Serritt seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
