REGULAR SESSION MINUTES
AUGUST 15, 2017
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Administration Building.

Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Hood asked if there are any additions, omissions, or deletions to the Minutes for the Work Session August 1, 2017, and the Regular Meeting August 1, 2017. Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and Commissioners Cunningham, Sexton, Owens, and Steward voted aye. Motion approved.
ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT
County Attorney/Administrator Ledbetter read the Administrator’s Report.
COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT
Commissioner Owens reported that he attended the Georgia Emergency Services Council. Commissioner Steward commented that he attended the Finance Committee meeting.
PUBLIC HEARING FOR APPLICATION FOR A MALT BEVERAGE LICENSE FOR RNR, CALHOUN FOR ZAHID RASHID
Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to open the public hearing for an application from RNR, Calhoun for a malt beverage license. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and all voted aye.
County Attorney/Administrator Ledbetter advised the Board that the attorney representing Mr. Rashid was unable to make it to the meeting and asked that the hearing be postponed to the September 5, 2017 meeting.
Commissioner Sexton made a motion to allow the postponement of the hearing. Commissioner Owens seconded the motion and all voted aye. Motion passed.
Commissioner Sexton made a motion to close the public hearing. Commissioner Owens seconded the motion and all voted aye. Motion passed.
CONSIDERATION OF UNFINISHED BUSINESS
None
CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS
BID AWARD FOR A 72 INCH SIDE MOWER FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
County Attorney/Administrator Ledbetter advised that this is a bid award for a 72-inch side mower for the Public Works Department. Gordon County solicited for bids and only one vendor responded, Adams Equipment Company of Austell submitted a bid of $24,981. The recommendation is to award the bid to Adams Equipment Company.
Commissioner Steward made a motion to approve the bid from Adams Equipment in the amount of $24,981. Commissioner Cunningham seconded the motion and Commissioners Sexton, Owens, Steward, and Cunningham voted aye. Motion passed.
REQUEST FROM HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION FOR APPROVAL OF THE USE OF RESACA BATTLEFIELD SITE FOR CROSS COUNTRY EVENTS IN OCTOBER.
County Attorney/Administrator Ledbetter advised that this is a request from the Historic Preservation Commission received from the Parks and Recreation Director Don Holley to approve the use of the Resaca Battlefield Park site for cross country events in October. The Historic Preservation Commission voted in favor to approve the request from the Parks and Recreation Director and have requested approval from the Board of Commissioners.
Commissioner Owens made a motion to approve the request for use of the Resaca Battlefield site for cross country events in October. Commissioner Sexton seconded the motion and Commissioners Owens, Steward, Cunningham, and Sexton voted aye. Motion passed.
BUDGET AMENDMENT TO COVER COUNTY’S PORTION OF LIBRARY COSTS
County Attorney/Administrator advised that this is for Board approval of a budget amendment to cover the county’s portion of library staff costs shared with the City of Calhoun in the amount of $12,773.00.
Commissioner Steward made a motion to approve the budget amendment to cover the county’s portion of staff costs for the library Commissioner Cunningham seconded the motion and Commissioners Cunningham, Owens, Steward, and Sexton voted aye. Motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Sexton made a motion to adjourn the Regular Meeting. Commissioner Cunningham seconded the motion and all voted aye.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
