WORK SESSION MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 2, 2014
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.
Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
County Administrator King presented a framed certificate to Gordon County Fire Department Division Fire Chief Blake Hodge for successfully completing the process that awards him the professional designation of Chief Fire Officer by The Commission on Professional Credentialing. This designation offered by The Commission on Professional Credentialing is an internationally recognized third-part verification of professional competence in fire and emergency services and is considered by many, the highest level of achievement possible for a fire chief. Administrator King congratulated Division Fire Chief Hodge for this accomplishment.
The Board discussed each item on the agenda and made no changes or additions.
Gordon County E-911 Director Debbie Vance updated the Board of Commissioners on the E-911 Department. The department currently has 22 full-time employees that dispatch calls to the Sheriff’s Office and all City Police and State Patrol offices, plus Department of Natural Resources. Also dispatch to all Fire Departments and Emergency Management Services in Gordon County, and includes County departments of Emergency Management, Animal Control, Public Works and Calhoun Street Department. The Department handled just under 75,000 calls during fiscal year 7/1/13 to 6/30/14, resulting in an average dispatch time of 24 seconds.
Commissioner Sexton made a motion to close the Work Session. Commissioner Gazaway seconded and all voted aye. There being no further business the Work Session adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
