Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
County Administrator Ledbetter explained to the Board members the New Business items on the agenda for tonight’s Regular meeting.
Mr. Andy Macke, V. P. of Comcast came before the Board to update the Broadband Project. Mr. Macke advised the Board that the completion of the design has been done and they are working on the permitting for the project. There is a funding gap of approximately $4.4 million that the State of Georgia says is eligible for funding. The State will make a decision on this by October.
Chairman Hood requested that the Board go ahead and hear the Administrator’s Report in the Work Session and that the Board Members give their reports also in the Work Session.
Administrator Ledbetter read the Administrators Report (copy attached).
Commissioner Owens reported that he had attended the Floyd/Gordon Development Authority meeting, also the 9/11 Fair Parade Planning Meeting, the Development Authority meeting, the Chamber Breakfast and State of the County, the Commissioners Special Meeting and Planning Session, and the Public Hearing for the millage rate and a meeting with the Calhoun Mayor and the Administrator. Also, several calls from citizens, commended the Emergency Management and Fire Staff for providing assistance to Chattooga County during the flooding they experienced.
Commissioner Potts gave his department reports for Fleet Management, Public Works, and Building Maintenance, attending a ribbon cutting, hosted Public Works Committee meeting, attended the Keep Calhoun Beautiful Board meeting, attended a meeting about a potential development with the Public Works Director, Calhoun/Gordon County Development Authority, attended a meeting about a potential project. Attended the City/County Breakfast. Also, the Board’s Planning Session. Recognized the Gordon County Fire and Rescue, they completed a 6-hour course and received 106 certifications.
Commissioner Steward reported that he attended the Commissioners Special Meeting and Planning Session. Commissioner Cunningham reported that he attended the Commissioners Special Meeting and Planning Session and the State of the City/County Chamber Breakfast and a construction meeting for the renovation of the courthouse, and the joint Comprehensive Plan planning meeting.
Commissioner Owens made a motion to close the Work Session. Commissioner Potts seconded the motion and all voted aye.
There being no further business, the Work Session adjourned at 5:54 p.m.
