9/13/2010 Planning & Zoning Commission Minutes
The Gordon County Planning & Zoning Commission held a Public Hearing on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Gordon County Administration Building for the purpose of hearing variance and zoning change requests. Chairman Talley called the meeting to order and advised all present of the sign-up sheets available for those who wish to address the Planning Commission on any of the zoning or variance change applications.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Brad Rains to approve the minutes of the previous meeting of August 9, 2010. Ricky Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The minutes were approved as written.
REZONING APPLICATION #Z10-07, LANNY C. SHAW
Chairman Talley read rezoning application #Z10-07, Lanny C. Shaw requesting to rezone 4 acres located at 261 Gillespie Road, Fairmount from A-1 to RA-1. Mr. Shaw represented the request explaining that he would like to be permitted to sub-divide his property with his existing home in order to place a mobile home on the other tract for his son and his family. Planning Commission members Brad Rains and Ricky Smith had concerns with the drainage issues. Mr. Shaw stated that he had stopped the land clearing when he was made aware that the land had to be rezoned and will resume and correct all the drainage issues. All adjoining property owners had been notified. MACTEC acting as the Planning Consultant for Gordon County recommended that the rezoning request #Z10-07 be approved. Brad Rains made the motion to approve the rezoning request #Z10-07 from A-1 to RA-1. Ricky Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The recommendation for approval was sent to the Board of Commissioners.
ADDITIONAL BUSINESS
- Ursula Desrosier, Gordon County Zoning Administrator presented a handout from MACTEC for the Planning Commission to decide if they were ready to make their recommendations for amendments to the Gordon County ULDC. Brad Rains made the motion for MACTEC to go ahead with the recommendations that had been previously discussed in three prior work sessions. Ricky Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. MACTEC will now proceed with the final presentment to the Gordon County Board of Commissioners.
- Brad Rains and Ricky Smith briefly discussed the two letters that had been sent from a concerned citizen about two separate properties that might need to be rezoned.
There being no additional business, Brad Rains made the motion to adjourn. Ricky Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
