PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MINUTES
September 14, 2020


The Gordon County Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on Monday, Sept. 14, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Gordon County Administration Building for the purpose of hearing variance and zoning change requests.

Members Present:
Jerry Lovelace, Eddie Smith, Butch Layson, and Nathan Serritt

Jerry Lovelace called the meeting to order and advised all present of the sign-up sheets available for those who wish to address the Planning Commission on any of the zoning or variance change applications.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Nathan Serritt to approve the minutes of the previous meeting of August 10, 2020. Eddie Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The minutes were approved as written.

REZONING APPLICATION #Z20-17, CLYDE & CINDY BURCHETT

Vice-Chairman Lovelace read rezoning application #Z20-17, Clyde and Cindy Burchett, requesting to rezone a 3.28 acre tract located at 2659 Pleasant Hill Road, Ranger from A-1 to RA-1. Mr. Burchett represented the request explaining that they had purchased this property which had been subdivided off from a 14 acre tract and would like to rezone to build a house. All adjoining property owners had been notified.

Butch Layson made the motion to approve the rezoning application identified as #Z20-17 from A-1 to RA-1. Nathan Serritt seconded the motion. All voted aye. The recommendation for approval was sent to the Board of Commissioners.

REZONING APPLICATION #Z20-18, OASIS DETOX SPA (applicant) SANDY & KEVIN CASHON (owners)

Vice-Chairman Lovelace read rezoning application #Z20-18, Oasis Detox Spa (applicant), Sandy and Kevin Cashon (owners), requesting to rezone a 1.01 acre tract located at 270 Johnson Road, Adairsville from A-1 to O-I. Mr. Cashon represented the request explaining that they had started the part-time business from the house about the year 2000 then moved into a renovated storage building about 2017, and now would like to rezone to bring it into compliance with zoning. All adjoining property owners had been notified.

Nathan Serritt made the motion to approve the rezoning application identified as #Z20-18 from A-1 to O-I. Butch Layson seconded the motion. All voted aye. The recommendation for approval was sent to the Board of Commissioners.

ADDITIONAL BUSINESS

There being no additional business, Nathan Serritt made the motion to adjourn. Eddie Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting was adjourned at 6:09 p.m.
