GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 15, 2015
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, September, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.
Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
PUBLIC HEARING FOR MILLAGE RATE INCREASE
Commissioner Gazaway made a motion to open the public hearing for the millage rate increase. Commissioner Sexton seconded the motion and all voted aye.
County Attorney Ledbetter advised that this is the third of the required public hearings for the Board to conduct in order to raise the millage rate. Attorney Ledbetter announced that there was no one signed up to speak at the public hearing.
Commissioner Steward made a motion to close the public hearing. Commissioner Cunningham seconded the motion and all voted aye.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Hood asked if there are any additions, omissions, or deletions to the Minutes for the Work Session September 1, 2015, and the Regular Meeting September 1, 2015. Commissioner Steward made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioners Gazaway seconded the motion and Commissioners Cunningham, Sexton, Gazaway and Steward voted aye. Motion approved.
ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT
County Administrator King read the report into the record (copy attached).
COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT
Commissioner Gazaway reported that he attended the 9-11 Memorial Ceremony at Trinity, met Lt. Governor Cagle at the College & Career Academy, and Partners in Education Summit.

CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS
DECLARATION OF SURPLUS PROPERTY FOR THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT FOR A 1998 MERCEDES BENZ, A 2003 ACURA COUPE, AND A 2005 HARLEY DAVISON FLX MOTORCYCLE
County Administrator King advised that this is a request from the Sheriff’s Department asking that three vehicles be declared surplus property for disposal.
Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to declare as surplus a 1998 Mercedes Benz, a 2003 Acura Coupe, and a 2005 Harley Davison FLX motorcycle. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and Commissioners Cunningham, Steward, Sexton, and Gazaway voted aye. Motion passed.
DECLARATION OF SURPLUS PROPERTY FOR AUCTION
Administrator King advised that this is a list of surplus property from the Sheriff’s Department and from the Redbud Road fire station that we are going to be tearing down, and other offices. This list of property will be going to the auction that is coming up September 19, 2015.
Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to approve the list of property as surplus. Commissioner Gazaway seconded the motion and Commissioners Cunningham, Gazaway, Steward, and Sexton voted aye. Motion passed.
ADOPTION OF A 9.930 MILLAGE RATE FOR THE 2015 TAX YEAR
County Administrator King advised that Gordon County has completed all of the requirements by the State as far as advertising and holding public hearings. This is for the Board to establish the millage rate for the 2015 tax year at 9.930 total net mills for the County government operations in the incorporated and unincorporated areas of the county.
Commissioner Gazaway made a motion to adopt the 9.930 millage rate for 2015. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and Commissioners Gazaway, Steward, and Cunningham voted aye. Commissioners Sexton opposed the motion. Motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Steward made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Gazaway seconded the motion and all voted aye. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
