The Georgia Dept. of Community Affairs, on Sept. 28, awarded Gordon County a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant to improve the Voluntary Action Center (VAC). The Dept. of Community Affairs funded only 74 of the 141 applications submitted by other Georgia cities and counties. The VAC project, located at 343 S. Wall St., will generally consist of new building construction, demolition, building renovations, and paving. This project will greatly assist local low and moderate income citizens and is scheduled to be completed by mid 2013.
