Chairman Padgett called the meeting to order at approximately 5:26 p.m.; welcoming all in attendance. Minutes from September 8, 2015 meeting were presented for review and approval. Jeff Henderson made motion to approve minutes; seconded by Betty Ann Surdykowski. All voted aye.

Commission Reports

Chairman Padgett met with County Administrator, John King earlier today at the Chitwood Farm, Resaca Battlefield Site and Fort Wayne Site. DNR workers were on site relocating the entrance sign for Battlefield Site.

The state is meeting with John King on Thursday, October 8th, 2015 to discuss final details for completion of park. After meeting with state the Board of Commissioners will be meeting with state to perform an inspection of the properties.

Grand Opening is tentatively scheduled for Friday, May 13th, 2016. Staff has been approved in yearly budget to allow the park to be open a few days a week.

John King and Chairman Padgett have released information to a blog in reference to the sites.

Chairman Padgett stated Fort Wayne site is in good condition and he familiarized John King with Chitwood Farm easement.

Jeff Henderson questioned if a traffic count has been conducted; Chairman Padgett stated there is no electricity to allow for a traffic counter to be installed.

Alvin Long questioned if City of Resaca will be contacted in reference to be contributing funds to project. Chairman Padgett stated City of Resaca have shown no interest in involvement with Battlefield project.

Chairman Padgett stated he spoke with Ted Collins and questioned him on Liberty Cumberland Church. Mr. Collins stated he has received nothing positive from the church. He stated the original deed for the property states that once the church, Liberty Cumberland, ceases to be used as a church the property reverts back to the original property owners; original property owners have not been located.

Commission briefly discussed HPC goals list that were provided at September 2015 meeting.

Jeff Henderson questioned if there were any laws on destroying a grave; Chairman Padgett stated there is a code section on cemeteries. Brief discussion to cemetery laws that provide protection for cemeteries/graves.

Next scheduled meeting is Monday, November 2, 2015 @ 5:30 p.m.. Jeff Henderson made motion to adjourn; seconded by Betty Ann Surdykowski. All voted aye. Meeting was adjourned at approximately 6:00 p.m.
