Regular Meeting
Chairman Padgett called the meeting to order at approximately 5:30 p.m., welcoming all in attendance. Minutes from September 2, 2014 meeting were presented for review and approval. Alvin Long made motion to approve minutes; seconded by Betty Ann Surdykowski. All voted aye.
Commission Reports
Jeff Henderson stated he is working on a family history scrapbook for Mr. Brown, supporter of Historical Society. Jeff stated he has been able to research back to 1850 so far.
David Mitchell was contacted by Vic Bohannon, in reference to property on East May Street that Adair Cemetery is located on. Mr. Bohannon expressed his concerns for preservation of Adair Cemetery with upcoming sale of property. Alvin Long made motion to HPC to contact Clerk of Court’s office to have Adair Cemetery documented on deed; seconded by Jeff Henderson. All voted aye. Alvin Long stated he would contact Clerk of Court’s office to have cemetery documented on deed.
David Mitchell was contacted by a concerned citizen in Resaca regarding signs placed on telephone poles within overlay district in Resaca. Ursula Desrosier will notify City of Resaca Ordinance Officer of complaint.
Alvin Long shared a copy of newspaper article from Chattanooga Times Free Press, with HPC, detailing a Civil War Tombstone marker that had been stolen in Manchester, TN and recovered in St. Louis, Missouri.
Unfinished Business
Chairman Padgett stated there will be a meeting on Monday, October 13, 2014, at county administration building, with the independent firm, hired by Gordon County, to discuss final results regarding Resaca Battlefield project.
Chairman Padgett met with editor of Blue & Grey Magazine, #1 Civil War periodical published in country, at Resaca Battlefield. The magazine is publishing an article on Battle of Resaca in spring 2015 issue.
HPC briefly discussed current condition of Battlefield Park property.
Chairman Padgett informed HPC that TVA will be running a gas line and not a power line as was discussed at September meeting, through the Sugar Valley area.
New Business
HPC meeting location will remain at County Administration building.

Next scheduled meeting is Monday, November 3, 2014 @ 5:30 p.m. at county administration building. Jeff Henderson made motion to adjourn meeting; seconded by Alvin Long. Meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:54 p.m.
