Gordon County EMA Director Receives Award

Gordon County Emergency Management Agency Director, Richard Cooper, has been awarded a Professional Certified Emergency Manager designation by the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA). Mr. Cooper has completed over 230 hours of coursework in all areas of emergency management including flood preparedness, debris removal, severe weather preparedness, among other classes and drills. This designation, awarded to only about 60 Georgia counties, will greatly enhance Mr. Cooper’s management abilities to assist Gordon County citizens with preparing, responding to, and recovering from natural and manmade disasters.
