WORK SESSION MINUTES
OCTOBER 16, 2018
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.

Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
County Administrator Ledbetter spoke to the Board regarding the Agenda for the Regular Meeting and explained each item on the agenda. There were no changes or additions made to the Agenda.
Vice Chairman Steward read a special award to Al Leonard, Finance Director for Gordon County. The Award is a Certificate of Achievement from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada and is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. Vice Chairman Steward and the Board Members thanked Mr. Leonard for his hard work and high standards in financial reporting and achieving this award for Gordon County.
Administrator Ledbetter advised that Gordon County has received a notification from Dr. Devin Handley regarding his resignation from the Gordon County Board of Health. Dr. Handley’s term ends December 31, 2023 and represents the physician appointment by the County. Members of the Board of Health recommended Dr. Teru Lapaquette or Dr. Chris Yamamoto as the physician appointment to the Board of Health. Commissioner Sexton who serves on that Board of Health, suggested Dr. Lapaquette be appointed to fill the unexpired term ending December 31, 2023. Commission Board members moved the consideration of the appointment to their next Board meeting.
Commissioner Steward made a motion to go into the Executive Session for legal matters. Commissioner Owens seconded the motion and Commissioners Steward, Owens, Cunningham, and Sexton voted aye. Executive Session began at 5:43 p.m.
Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to adjourn the Work Session. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and all voted aye.
There being no further business, the Work Session adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
