GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WORK SESSION MINUTES
OCTOBER 17, 2017


The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.

Vice Chairman Steward called the meeting to order.

County Administrator/Attorney Ledbetter discussed with the Board each item on the Agenda for the Regular Meeting. No items were added or deleted from the agenda. The item for the increase to the Freeport tax exemption was discussed with the Board and CAA Ledbetter asked for comments from the Board members about removing this item until a full Board is in session. There was a consensus of the Board to allow this item to remain on the agenda for consideration at the Regular Meeting.

Commissioner Owens read the proclamation for Red Ribbon week and presented it to Young Marine Pvt. Haley Ann Hendrix (age 11) representing the Etowah Valley Young Marines. Pvt. Hendrix and her group are actively participating in the anti-illicit drug awareness event and Pvt. Hendrix was instrumental in getting the Red Ribbon week proclamation issued from the Board of Commissioners. The mission of the Young Marines is to develop good citizenship and promote a drug free lifestyle in our youth.

County Administrator/Attorney Ledbetter presented the letter of proposal from American Tower concerning the site lease at the Sonoraville cell tower location. CAA Ledbetter advised that he would like the Finance Committee to examine the proposal of offer of a lump sum payment or extension of the lease and come back to the Board with a recommendation. There was a consensus of the Board to send this letter of proposal to the Finance Committee for their recommendation.

Commissioner Sexton made a motion to adjourn the Work Session. Commissioner Cunningham seconded the motion and all voted aye.

There being no further business, the Work Session adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
