10/18/11 Work Session Minutes

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 5:15 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.

Chairman Bailey called the meeting to order.

The Board discussed each item on the agenda and made no changes or additions.

County Attorney Smith explained to the Board that a representative from Highland Rivers, our mental health services provider, contacted us a few weeks ago and indicated that the contract between the County and Highland Rivers has expired and they wished to make several changes in the previous contract. Attorney Smith advised that the changes could not be made without approval from the Board. Since that time another local provider of mental health services has indicated to the County that they would also be interested in providing these services. County Attorney Smith recommended to the Board that we issue a request for proposals to get responses from these two providers or any other provider that wishes to provide these services. Following discussion with Board members there was a consensus of the Board to follow the recommendation and go ahead and put out a request for proposals. The Board members requested staff to move forward quickly with getting the RFP out. Since representatives from the two providers of mental health services were in attendance, the Board allowed their representatives to introduce themselves to the Board. Mr. Jason Bearden, Chief Executive Officer with Highland Rivers introduced himself to the Board and gave a short synopsis of the services offered by their organization. Ms. Carly Fountain, Program Manager and Dr. David Anthony, Chief Executive Officer, both from Family Intervention Specialists introduced themselves and gave their short synopsis of services offered by their organization.

Commissioner Hood made a motion to adjourn the Work Session. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and all voted aye.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
