1/05/10 Regular Session Minutes
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Administration Building.
Chairman Long called the meeting to order.
INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Invocation was led by Rev. John Allen and the pledge of allegiance was led by Chairman Long.
WELCOME
Chairman Long welcomed everyone to the meeting.
EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Chairman Long read the list of employees with anniversary hire dates in January. Commissioner Bailey drew the name of Robert Whitlock as Employee of the Month.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Long asked if there were any additions, omissions, or deletions to the Minutes for the Work Session December 15, 2009, and the Regular Meeting December 15, 2009. Commissioner Bailey made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and all voted aye. Minutes approved.

CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS
- ESTABLISH QUALIFYING FEES FOR THE 2010 ELECTIONS
Administrator Dowling advised the Board that this is establishing the qualifying fees for the 2010 elections. The Board of County Commissioners is required State Law to fix and publish the qualifying fees for each County office to be filled during upcoming elections by February 1st of the election year. This year the County Commissioners districts 2 and 4 and the County School Board members posts 1, 3, 5, and 7 are up for election. The qualifying fee for the School Board members is $18.00 and for the County Commission districts is $180.00. Commissioner Gordon made a motion to approve the qualifying fees. Commissioner Bailey seconded the motion and Commissioners Bailey, Gordon, and Hood voted aye. Motion passed.
- APPOINTMENT TO THE GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH
Administrator Dowling advised the Board that this is an appointment to the Gordon County Board of Health for a six year term ending December 31, 2015. Commissioner Bailey made a motion to appoint Kent Lawson to the Board of Health for a term ending December 31, 2015. Commissioner Gordon seconded the motion and Commissioners Bailey, Gordon, and Hood voted aye. Motion passed.

ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Gordon made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and all voted aye. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:07 p.m.
