11/14/2011 Planning & Zoning Commission Minutes
The Gordon County Planning & Zoning Commission held a Public Hearing on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Gordon County Administration Building for the purpose of hearing variance and zoning change requests.
Chairman Talley called the meeting to order and advised all present of the sign-up sheets available for those who wish to address the Planning Commission on any of the zoning or variance change applications.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Randy Rule to approve the minutes of the previous meeting of July 11, 2011. Brad Rains seconded the motion. All voted aye. The minutes were approved as written.
REZONING APPLICATION #Z11-05, STAN DENNISON
Chairman Talley read rezoning application #Z11-05, Stan Dennison requesting to rezone 2.998 acres located at 1570 Boone Ford Road, Calhoun, GA from A-1 to RA-1. Mr. Dennison represented the request explaining that the property had been previously subdivided from a larger tract and now they would like to bring into compliance to build a single family home. The new home would be 3000 square feet with a 2300 square foot garage. All adjoining property owners had been notified.
Ursula Desrosier, Zoning Administrator for Gordon County, recommends that the rezoning request identified as Application #Z11-05 be approved.
Ron Free made the motion to approve the rezoning from A-1 to RA-1. Ricky Smith seconded the motion. All voted aye. The recommendation for approval was sent to the Board of Commissioners.
ADDITIONAL BUSINESS
There was a brief discussion about property owners who desire to keep chickens/coops on their property for personal use. Brad Rain, Ron Free, and Randy Rule all had comments and/or ideas but Randy Rule made a motion to table until the next called Planning Commission meeting to give Chairman Talley an opportunity to speak with the Board of Commissioners on the direction they would like to go with. Ron Free seconded the motion. Ricky Smith and Brad Rains were opposed to the motion. Brant Talley voted with the motion. The vote was 3-2 to table and meet in a work session on December 12, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Gordon County Administration Building.
There being no additional business, Ron Free made the motion to adjourn. Brad Rains seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting was adjourned at 7:46 p.m.
