11/03/09 Regular Session Minutes
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. in the main courtroom of the Gordon County Courthouse.
Chairman Long called the meeting to order.
INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Invocation was led by Rev. John Allen and the pledge of allegiance was led by Chairman Long.
WELCOME
Chairman Long welcomed everyone to the meeting.
EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Chairman Long read the names of employees with anniversary hire dates in the month of November. Commissioner Bailey drew the name of Michelle Gilliam as employee of the month.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Long asked if there were any additions, omissions, or deletions to the Minutes for the Work Session October 20, 2009, and the Regular Meeting October 20, 2009. Commissioner Bailey made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Gordon seconded the motion and all voted aye. Minutes approved.
ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT
Administrator Dowling read the report into the record.
COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT
Commissioner Bailey congratulated and thanked the high schools for their collection of canned food for needy families at the Friday night football game. Commissioner Gordon expressed the Board’s condolences to the family of Mr. Bob O’Conner who passed away this week. Chairman Long announced that Lowes Building Supply has donated $4,000 toward the funding for the walking trail around the lake at Salacoa Park.

CONSIDERATION OF OLD BUSINESS
- ORDINANCE AMENDMENT REGULATING ADULT ENTERTAINMENT ESTABLISHMENTS – second reading
County Attorney advised the Board that this is the second reading by title only of the Ordinance amendment Regulating Adult Entertainment Establishments. Commissioner Gordon made a motion to approve the Ordinance. Commissioner Bailey seconded the motion and Commissioners Gordon, Bailey, Hood, and Townsend voted aye. Motion passed.
CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS
- CONSIDERATIOIN OF DONATING A VEHICLE TO THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB
Administrator Dowling advised the Board that this is a donation to the Boys & Girls Club of a 1999 Dodge Ram Van for their use in transporting children from nearby schools to the club for their after school program. The van was used at the George Chambers Resource Center but is no longer needed.
Commissioner Bailey made a motion to approve the donation of a van to the Boys & Girls Club. Commissioner Gordon seconded the motion and Commissioners Bailey, Gordon, Hood, and Townsend voted aye. Motion passed.
- MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT WITH GORDON HOSPITAL
County Attorney Hutchinson advised the Board that this is a mutual aid agreement between Gordon County and Gordon Hospital. The two agencies desire to render supplemental EMS related services to one another and to take part in joint training exercises for the mutual benefit of both agencies.
Commissioner Bailey made a motion to approve the mutual aid agreement with Gordon Hospital. Commissioner Gordon seconded the motion and Commissioners Bailey, Gordon, Townsend, and Hood voted aye. Motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Bailey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Gordon seconded the motion and all voted aye. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
