11/15/11 Regular Session Minutes

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Administration Building.

Chairman Bailey called the meeting to order.

INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Invocation was led by Rev. John Allen and the pledge of allegiance was led by Chairman Bailey.

WELCOME

Chairman Bailey welcomed everyone to the meeting.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Bailey asked if there were any additions, omissions, or deletions to the Minutes for the Work Session November 1, 2011 and the Regular Meeting November 1, 2011. Commissioner Steward made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Long seconded the motion and all voted aye. Minutes approved.

ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT
Administrator Dowling read the report.

COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT
Chairman Bailey thanked the voters of Gordon County for approval of continuing the one cent SPLOST in Gordon County.

COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC – GERMANE TO THE AGENDA

CONSIDERATION OF OLD BUSINESS

  • ORDINANCE FOR RABIES CONTROL FOR THE GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH
    County Attorney Smith advised that this is the second reading of the ordinance for rabies control as requested by the Gordon County Board of Health. Commissioner Long made a motion to approve the Ordinance. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and Commissioners Long, Steward, Hood, and Townsend voted aye. Motion passed.

CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS

  • PAVING PARKING LOT AT NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY
    Administrator Dowling advised the Board that this is a request from the National Guard Armory for the County’s help in repaving a portion of their parking area. The Public Works Director has agreed to furnish the material and labor for this project from his departmental budget, allowing the work to be done without a budget amendment. Commissioner Long made a motion to approve the Public Works Department repaving a portion of the parking area for the National Guard Armory. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and Commissioners Long, Hood, Townsend, and Steward voted aye. Motion passed.
  • NOMINATE RAY DENMON TO HOSPITAL AUTHORITY BOARD FOR TERM ENDING 1/1/2015
    Administrator Dowling advised the Board that this is a request from the Gordon County Hospital Authority for appointment of a new member. The Hospital Authority Board nominated Mr. Ray Denmon for appointment to fill a three year term beginning January 1, 2012. Commissioner Hood made a motion to approve the recommendation of appointing Mr. Ray Denmon to the Hospital Authority Board for a three year term. Commissioner Long seconded the motion and Commissioners Steward, Hood, Townsend and Long voted aye. Motion passed.

ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Long made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and all voted aye. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
