11/17/09 Regular Session Minutes

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Administration Building

Chairman Long called the meeting to order.

INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Invocation was led by Rev. John Allen and the pledge of allegiance was led by Chairman Long.

WELCOME

Chairman Long welcomed everyone to the meeting.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Long asked if there were any additions, omissions, or deletions to the Minutes for the Work Session November 3, 2009, and the Regular Meeting November 3, 2009. Commissioner Gordon made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and all voted aye. Minutes approved.

CONSIDERATION OF OLD BUSINESS

CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS

  • STIMULUS CONTRACT WITH DOT FOR SECTION 5311 PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM
    Administrator Dowling advised the Board that this is federally funded stimulus contract with the DOT for the Section 5311 Public Transportation Program in the amount of $20,800 to be used to purchase dispatching software. Commissioner Gordon made a motion to approve the contract and authorize the Chairman to sign. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and Commissioners Gordon, Hood, and Townsend voted aye. Motion passed.


  • CHITWOOD FARM UPDATED APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE
    County Attorney Hutchinson advised the Board that this is an updated application for federal assistance for the Chitwood Farm property on which the Resaca Battlefield is located. This is an updated application for fiscal year 2010 with the Park Service. Commissioner Gordon made a motion to approve the updated application and authorize the County Attorney to sign the application. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and Commissioners Gordon, Townsend, and Hood voted aye. Motion passed.
  • CONTRACT FOR STATE PAID COUNTY REIMBURSED PERSONNEL FOR CURRENT FISCAL YEAR 2010
    County Attorney Hutchinson advised the Board that this is a contract between the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia, the District Attorney for the Cherokee Judicial Circuit, and Gordon County authorizing Gordon County to provide additional personnel for the office of district attorney in the same manner as is provided for state paid personnel. Any such personnel shall be considered state employees and shall be entitled to the same fringe benefits as other state paid personnel employed by the district attorney. Commissioner Gordon made a motion to approve the contract and authorize the Chairman to sign. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and Commissioners Gordon, Hood and Townsend voted aye. Motion passed.


ADJOURNMENT

Commissioner Gordon made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and all voted aye. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
